On a standard build, the hammer spring legs ride in a groove to keep the factory pins in place. But the moment you install a drop-in / cassette-style trigger — from makers like CMC, Elftmann, Rise, Timney, or Wilson Combat — that retention is gone, and standard pins can work their way loose. Anti-walk pins solve this. Secured by screw-retained side plates or a single retention clip (depending on the set), they hold both pins firmly in position, so your trigger group stays exactly where you built it.
